Services for Dorothy Edwards will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018 at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 Friday evening at the funeral home.

Dorothy Edwards, 43 year resident of Hughes Springs went home to be with Jesus, Wednesday, October 31, 2018.

Dorothy was born April 2, 1939 in Houston TX. Dorothy became the bride of Frank Edwards November 18, 1961 in San Antonio, TX after a short courtship. Moving to Dallas in 1962, Dorothy was a clothes inspector then went to work at Collins Radio building circuit boards used in Apollo Space program. Dorothy continued her career through her first two children born in 1963 and 1965. Dorothy became a fulltime mom and housewife prior to birth of her third child in 1968 and had her fourth child in 1973. Moving to Hughes Springs in 1975, continuing raising their four children though their graduation at Hughes Springs ISD. Dorothy expanded her dream career and opened a children’s clothes and gift store in Hughes Springs in 1992 through 2012.

Dorothy was a very active member of First Baptist Church Hughes Springs, Texas for 43 years teaching bible school in excess of 30 years, teaching GA’s, camp counselor, WMU, young at heart, and served on hostess committee and shared her Love for the Lord. Dorothy’s church family was very important to her.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her first son, Franklin D. “Frankie” Edwards; mother, Evelyn Carnes;  father Harry Teague; sister, Olivia Malone; brothers, Chester Carnes and John Teague; in-laws Cecil Frank and Lodia Edwards.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 57 years, Frank Edwards; son, Michael Edwards of Tecumseh OK; daughter, Kim Hall and husband Robin of Daingerfield, TX; daughter, Jennifer Jackson of Rock Hill SC; and eight grandchildren  Gregory, William, Ashlyn Edwards, Chelsey and Justin Hall, Skyler, Sabrina and Robert Jackson; and great-granddaughter Eden.

Dorothy will be sorely missed here but oh the celebration when reuniting with her son and meeting her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

  3. We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs. Edwards. We have kept up with her journey thru the past few years. We have prayed for her for comfort during her many trials. Now we know she has won the biggest one of all and has finally made her finally journey. She is now in peace and comfort with her Father above. Now all we can do is to wait for our turn.. Bless you all Kim and your family. May you find peace in your hearts and soul for some rest now also. And mainly I pray peace for your Dad.

  4. Kim, I am so sorry about your Mom. You have been a wonderful daughter taking care of her. I can sympathize with you. My Mother pass when I was very young. You never stop missing her, but she will always be in your heart. Remembering you in my thoughts and prayers. Love Betty Miller I bought many little dresses from her store for my Grand Daughters.

  6. Dear Kim, We last talked about the last July vacation trip and your hopes that your Mom would have strength enough to go. I don’t know if she was able to make that trip, but this trip she just made is the best one. I know the family will miss her and God will continue His blessings on the family.

  7. So sorry about this sweet lady. She made such an impression on so many people. We loved her and always enjoyed her visits to the shop. Praying for all of you. All of you were so wonderful to her keeping her spirits up and helping her enjoy her life. She was so proud of you and knew how much she was loved.

  8. Kids, I’ve always loved you and held you close to my heart. Know that your Mom fought a long battle and stayed with you for as many years as she could.
