Graveside services for Janet Barr, 78, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Cornett Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Janet went home to be with the Lord on June 15, 2019 in Houston, Texas, after a lengthy battle with COPD. Born on April 2, 1941 in Ft. Collins, Colorado, she was the only daughter and a gift from God to her parents, Walt and Judy Schindler.

Janet graduated from Westminster High School in 1959. She also attended Barnes Business College, where she received a degree in stenography.

She raised her four children in East Texas working for T&N Railroad as a welder. In 1975, she was one of the first women welders in Texas. She had a long 27-year career with Wal-Mart, from which she retired to pursue her crafts and spending time with her family.

Janet had been blessed with so many gifts and talents. Really there was nothing that she couldn’t do, including crafts like woodworking, leather work, baking birthday cakes for her kids and babies, ceramics, pottery, master seamstress, yard ornaments, painting, and macramé. She loved camping, horseback riding (in her younger days), and the outdoors (especially the mountains of Colorado and the beach). She loved flying, which included flying with her brothers in a hot air balloon.

Most of all, Janet loved her family and “her babies” (her grandkids and great-grandkids). She took every opportunity she could to spend time with them.

She loved the Lord with all her heart.  We will all miss you and your beautiful smile. Heaven has gained a great woman of God.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walt and Judy Schindler; and her beloved son, Gene Raymond Barr.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Stinson; granddaughter, Becky Pinkston and husband, Mark; great-grandchildren, Carter, Dylan, and Kailyn (Gaga); grandson, Daniel Shaddix and wife, Marie; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Raider, Ryleigh, and Rody; daughter, Judy Herron and husband, Sam; granddaughter, Brittany Baker and husband, Andrew; great-granddaughter Genevieve; granddaughter, Alaine Nix, her fiance Bryan Clevenger; great-granddaughter Emmalyn Charters; son, Michael Barr; granddaughter, Lindsey Barr; brothers, Fred Schindler and Frank Schindler and his wife, Sandy; nieces, Sheryl Schindler, Karen Touchet, Dee Felt, Chris Eberly and her husband, Bill; nephews, Paul Schindler, Dan Schindler and his wife Debra; and a host great nieces and nephews.

She was so very good at meeting people. She had many friends near and far who will all miss her very much.
