Ernestine Montgomery

February 9, 1930 ~ July 4, 2019
Ernestine Montgomery was born on February 9, 1930 in Marion County to the parentage of the late Manse and Lannie (Todd) Montgomery. She departed this life on July 4, 2019. She attended Rock Island for eight years and graduated from Central High School in Jefferson, Texas. She also attended Wiley College.
She worked at Jefferson ISD from 1966 to April 1996. She met and married Jewel McKinney and to this union one child was born. Later in life she married Ray Montgomery, to this union two children were born.
Ernestine accepted Christ at an early age and united with Grumfield Methodist. Later in life she united with Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Lone Star., Texas where she was a faithful member until her health failed her. She served as the church secretary from 1995 until 2016. She was a member of the Mission Board, a member of the Heronies of Jericho for many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Manse and Lannie (Tod) Montgomery; son, David McKinney; siblings, Armer, Todd, Naymond, Sr., and Raymond Montgomery.
Ernestine leaves to cherish her memories: sons, Ricky (Ronder) Montgomery of Longview, Darryl Montgomery of Lone Star; sisters, Ozene Bryson, Izette Montgomery, Deser (Alvoid, Sr.) Walker, all of Lone Star; numerous grandkids, and great-grandkids; sisters-in-love, Alice Montgomery, and Polly Montgomery; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Pilgrim Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City. There will be a time of visitation from 4:00 until 7:00 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

We send condolences to our family members and friends. Ernestine's mother (Lannie Montgomery) and our mother (Gola Lee Todd Richards) were sisters. We bid farewell to Ernestine. May she rest in peace.
