Betty Spearman

Services for Betty Spearman, 69, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Ore City. Burial will follow at Mims Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City. There will be a time for viewing from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. 

Betty was born on July 14, 1950 to the late Willie and Bunies Spearman. She passed from this earth September 10, 2019, and now rests in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She and her late brother, Charles E. Spearman, were close since they were the youngest children and they both fished together throughout their childhood until Charles passed away due to a tragic car accident. Betty went on to graduate close to the top of her class from Victory High School, an African American school located in Marion County between Mims and Jefferson, Texas. She then attended Texas Womens's University located in Denton, Texas. Afterwards, Betty worked in the medical field for a number of years. In 1983, her mother, Bunies had a stroke and she moved back to Mims, Texas to help care of her mother and family. 

She was preceded in death by brothers, Bill, Robert, Larry, Herman, Ezekiel, James, and Charles; sisters, Merite and Cleo.

Betty is survived by sisters, Rosie and Tennie; and a host of nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins and friends. Special thanks to Betty's caregiver, Charles L. Spearman.
