Richard Jacoby

Richard Eugene Jacoby was born April 6, 1927 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Milton and Clara (Catherine) Jacoby. Surrounded by his beloved family, he passed away on December 27, 2019 at his home in Daingerfield, Texas at the age of 92.
Richard was drafted in 1945 at the young age of 18 into the United States Army. He fought in both World War II and the Korean War while serving his country. After twenty-two and a half years of service, he retired from the Army as Sergeant Major, on January 31, 1967 at Fort Still, Oklahoma. Shortly after retiring, he was hired at Fort Still Federal Credit Union as a loan officer, working his was up to manager before retiring in 1983. His contributions lead to the success of the Fort Still Credit Union. Richard enjoyed fishing and bowling in his spare time, but bowling was his passion. He traveled to several cities competing in national tournaments for 25 years.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Clara; and his first wife, Maria Duchen Jacoby.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Dorothy; daughter, Clara (Jim) Chester of Oklahoma; sons, Richard (Gwen) Jacoby of Oklahoma, Jimmy Howell of Florida, Paul Howell of Texas, and David (Roni) Enderle of Texas; brother, Milton of Pennsylvania; 13 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren. Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to everyone.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Church on the Rock in Daingerfield. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 Friday evening at the funeral home.

We have lost a sweet,sweet man who will be missed by all who new him. I was blessed to have known both he and his love, Dorothy.
It was truly an honor to have been given the opportunity to spend time with a man so strong in character, wisdom and honor. But even greater of an honor, to have seen firsthand a love that transcends time and loss, as the love of Richard and his beloved Dorothy. May that love sustain you during this difficult time. God's healing for the jacoby family..Our family has been truly blessed to know Richard and his wonderful wife dorthy. As the loving and caring man Richard was for us all. I know he will be a constant reminder to us of how we should treat our neighbors, friends, family, and any of our fellow man by God's grace that was given so lovingly.
