David Michael Staton

David Michael Staton was born on May 27, 1942.  He was called home on February 26, 2020.  David grew up in Dallas,Tx  and attended Southern Methodist University.  He married Linda Penny on December 5, 1964 and they were blessed with a daughter, Amanda in 1975.  David served his country as SSGT (E-6) in the United States Marine Corps.

David and Linda lived in Houston and he spent most of his successful career as a sales representative for various manufacturing companies.  David was an avid golfer and loved to fish.  After retirement, they moved to Linden and enjoyed spending time with their family, friends and attending Linden United Methodist Church and was a member of the Fishermen class.

David was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, godfather & a cherished friend to many.  He is survived by his daughter Amanda Staton, sister-in-law Ann Staton, niece Kim Staton Parks (husband John), niece Shelley Staton Bussey (husband Craig), nephew Rob Staton (wife Vicky), nephew Rocky Staton (wife Amy) & brothers and sisters-in law Coy & Joyce Penny Sevier, Mack & Connie Penny Skipper, James & Susie Penny, Larry Penny, Tony & Mary Penny and Gary & Shari Penny.  David loved his many nieces and nephews, Uncle Robert & Aunt Betty Penny, Uncle Dickie & Aunt Merle McMinn, lifelong friends Howard & Lynda Bacharach and Al & Jackie Moffitt.

David has been reunited with his beloved family who has gone before him including his wife Linda, brother Bob Staton, his parents Robert Harding & Maye Staton and in-laws Alfred & Genie Mae Penny.

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 29th from 1 – 2 p.m. at Linden United Methodist Church.  Memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. and under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden.

  3. It certainly was a honor to have know David. i've missed him the last couple markets. Now. I will miss him more. His storys and his way of explaining thing in a simple and easy way with all the reflections were priceless.

David was a beloved member of Homelegance family for many years and we will always remember David's laughter and stories he shared with us.
