Dixie LeeDawn Moore

December 12, 1955 ~ April 29, 2020
Dixie LeeDawn Sloan Moore left us April 29, 2020 at her home in Daingerfield surrounded by her family. Born December 12,1955 in Arkansas, daughter of Suzanne and Jack Sloan. Dixie married Sam Moore on September 1, 1979 in Black Rock, Arkansas and he was the love of her life. Dixie graduated from Black Rock, Arkansas.. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Most importantly she was a true lady. Someone whom any could depend on and find a friend in. Dixie helped run Moore trucking and after her husband’s passing she became the CEO until her death. She was loved by many of her students during and after her time as a substitute teacher. She loved to travel, take photos of family during reunions, and offer a helping hand whenever and wherever she saw that it was needed. Dixie will be missed by so many and we can only hope that “Mawmaw and Pawpaw are riding right beside each other, smiling, and holding hands in a big truck meant just for them in heaven.”
Private graveside services will be held Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There is no scheduled visitation, but friends are welcome to come by the funeral home between 12:00 noon and 5:00 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2020 to view and sign registry.

Born 3 days apart to Moms that were good friends, we spent a lot of good times together in our first 18 years. From after school cheerleading practice, to every fun school activity I remember her smile. She was sweet and kind. She will be missed, but I will treasure my memories of her as one of my friends that helped shape my early life.
Every time we seen Dixie she was always smiling. A very gracious woman. She had such a deep love for her grand and great grandchildren and her family….you could see it beaming from her. We love you and will miss you dearly.
