Services for Mrs. Ivory Jo McCain-Gaines will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Murry League Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City. You may view and sign the registry from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Ivory Jo McCain-Gaines was born October 25, 1948 in Dangerfield, TX to Hosea and Alice Washington McCain. She was preceded in death by her Mother and oldest brother, PFC Johnny W. McCain.
She graduated from Ore City High School in 1967 and matriculated at Texas Women's University in Denton, TX. Ivory worked at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Texas as a Unit Secretary for 20 years. She later became an Office Manager for John W. Carpenter Elementary in Dallas ISD for 10 years before she retired in 2011. Afterward, she continued working as a substitute teacher until February 2020. She truly loved working with young children.
She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a devoted member of Christ Sanctified Holy Church in Ore City, Texas (presently Hodge Temple). Ivory remained a devoted disciple of Christ until her passing.
Ivory was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Clarence Gaines on January 25, 1985. To this union, they raised a blended family.
She is survived by her father, Hosea (Mary) McCain; husband, Clarence Gaines; sons, Frediroy R. McCain and Matthew A. Gaines. Four sisters, Sherri McCain (George) Woodrow, Carylon McCain (Bobby) Daniels, Vivian McCain (Kenneth) Wilkins and Glenda McCain (Garry) Banks; three brothers, Tommy (Sandra) McCain, Waylon (Carol) McCain and Scott (Nadra) McCain. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

Hello my is Coreen Ivory and I Work together at Macy’s she was my true friend to me I did get a chance to talk with her when she got home from the hospital but not long and I thank God a got the chance to do that. Ivory was such a beautiful person I am so Thankful she a positive impact on my life!

I was so saddened when i heard about Ivory's death. I will miss my friend. Until we meet again. Ivory go on and take your rest. Gone but not forgottened.
