Joyce Dodson of Linden, Texas was called home on Wednesday, November 18, 2020. She was blessed with a wonderful 84 years. She was born January 6, 1936 in Corinth, TX to Sam and Nadine Pockrus. She loved her family unconditionally and they were all perfect in her eyes. She showed her love through cooking everyone's favorite meals and always made sure her family knew were the most important part of her life and soul purpose for living. She worked at Optron, Dallas in her early years and spent her wages primarily on Olan Mills portraits of her family. She never cooked a meal that wasn't extended to someone outside the family that needed a place to call home. Her acceptance of others, warmth, hugs and loving arms will be missed by all who knew her.
She was welcomed home by her parents; husband Leslie "Dee" Dodson; beloved companion Orvis "Kirk" Kirkland; brother's Glenn and David Pockrus; great-grandson Gavin Dodson, and only daughter Brenda Joyce Jackson.
She is waiting to welcome home son, Leslie Dodson and wife Debbie, son, Robert Mitchell Dodson and companion Danny, son, Donald Dewayne Dodson and wife Lera, and son Terry Lee Dodson; 16 grandchildren, Leslie Dodson, Ryan Dodson, Alexis Moore and husband Michael, Sirion Ball, Shawna Morton and husband Scott, Sandra Mayberry, Chassy Ramsey and husband Trapper, Kaz Jackson, Josh Jackson, Jeff Arnold, Marshall McIntosh and wife Candice, Kristina Dodson and Chuckie, Donnie Dodson and wife Nikki, Dustin Dodson and wife Katie, Amy Dodson, and Angie Dodson and Dane; 27 great-grandchildren, Dane, Bear, Panda, Brittney, Caden, Stevin, Brendan, Natalie, Jenna, Lukas, Alyssa, Gullian, Kaleb, Shianne, Alexxus, Zoey, Jamison, Matthew, Michael, Trey, Josie, Ty, Quinton, Carson, Kaylee, Peyton, Wesley; 1 great-great-granddaughter Luna; a very special sister-in-law Edith McElreath and husband Noble; as well as numerous other family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 21, 2020, at the family cemetery with Bro. Bryan Baggett officiating and under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden.
