James Rowe

James Rowe was born on Nov. 21, 1950 in Daingerfield to Lillie “Nell” and James “Buck” Rowe. He passed away Oct. 31, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.

James served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1972 during t he Vietnam War stationed in Vietnam and Germany. He married Beverly Huchingson on Sept. 15, 1976 after only knowing her for six weeks. Together, they had two daughters, Nicole, who passed away at birth and Tori. He worked at and retired from Robroy Industries in Avinger after 28 years with the company. He then worked for several years at Atlas Roofing in Daingerfield before retiring for good to work on his projects.

James liked to refer to himself as a “Jack of all trades, master of none,” but anyone who ever met him or was the recipient of one of his “projects” knew that he was the master of every trade he ever tried. He was a carpenter, roofer, crafter, farmer, and a wonderful manager of people. He could build a house from the ground up as easily as he could make his own clothes. He loved making things for other people and was generous to a fault. He hated politics but loved griping about them. He never golfed, but loved watching it on TV. When he went on hunting trips, he took a camera instead of a gun. He loved to tell a good joke, but often he laughed so much during the telling that you would end up laughing at him instead of the punchline. He was just a neat guy.

Please remember the Little Debbie snack cake company during this difficult time because their stock just fell without him here to eat them  all.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Huchingson Rowe; infant daughter, Beverly Nicole; his parents and two brothers, Randy and Roy Rowe.

Survivors include one daughter, Tori Lyle and husband, Stacy; one granddaughter, Shelby Brock and partner, Cayden Hirschi; one grandson, Jackson Brock; three sisters, Regina Watkins and husband, Tommy, Betty Rowe and partner, Danny Barnett and Becky McDaniel and husband, Dwayne; two brothers, Dean Rowe and wife, Twana and David Rowe and wife, Donna; one sister-in-law, Fay Rowe and one special niece and nephew pair who built a lifetime of memories with their Uncle James, Kim Spaulding and husband, Brian and Christopher Harrell. So many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends are left to cherish his memory that it would take a book to list them all. He loved you all.

A special thank you goes to Hearts Way Hospice and nurses Lauren and Toby, and social worker Amanda. You made a difficult time bearable and we can never thank you enough.

A memorial service in James' honor will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021 at Hughes Springs Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Michael Stewart officiating. Please dress casually and come ready to laugh and share memories in celebration of his life.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the youth fund at Hughes Springs Missionary Baptist Church or the Wounded Warrior Project.
