Services for Bobby Wayne Peters, 76, of Cason, will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Shady Grove Christian Church, 4379 CR 4950 in Cason. Mask are required. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home of Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Peters was delivered by midwife to the late Henry Lee and Frankie Peters on March 31, 1945 in Morris County. Bobby completed his high school education at JJ Rhoades High School in Daingerfield. He passed away November 10, 2021 with his family by his side. 

Bobby is by survived two brothers, Henry S. Peters of Cason, Billy C. Peters of Longview, and Billy D. Smith of Lansing, Michigan.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Maudie Mae Suggs in November 1967; to this union three children were born, Kirbian D. Peters (Aletha) of Desoto Texas, Derrick Y. Peters of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, and Waverly M. Peters of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren, Jarrod Peters, Kirbian Peters II, Kiersten Peters, Kiriana Peters, and Isaiah Peters; three great grandchildren, Arianne Jade Peters, Alaya Joi Peters, Noah-Jay Peters; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Bobby was drafted into the United States Army in 1967-1971 and served in the states until being deployed to Vietnam.  After being honorably discharged, he and his family lived in Killeen for one year, and then returned home and went to work at Day & Zimmerman in Texarkana, TX for a number of years. After gaining employment at Lone Star Steel Company, he would always stop by the store when he got off to bring his daughter some gum or soda; he later retired after 30+ years, after which time he enjoyed fishing with his father, tending to his livestock, farming and hunting with his son, which he was very competitive, enjoying time with his wife, and talking to his children and grandchildren every day.  

He valued education, hard work, discipline, quality time and integrity.

Bobby was preceded in death by his father, mother, and two sisters Margaret Ann Grant and Shirley Traylor Beard.

    I didn't know Bobby, but I know he was a good man, if you picked him for yours. I loved your video, and the music, and especially that photo of grandbaby hugging his leg… I love you Maudie, and I wish I could have been at the funeral. My heart goes out to you!
