Ms Verda played a big roll in my growing up in the 60s and 70s. My Sunday school teacher a dear friend and play sister to my mother and father John and Rodessa Mitchell. You’ll always be in my heart
Mrs. Vert was truly a wonderful soul. She was like a grandmother to all of us at new Jerusalem Baptist church. She will truly be missed.
We met when I was only single digits and at that young age, I knew that she was special. Though she was actually my 2nd cousin, I called her Aunt Vert. Whenever we would talk the time would seem to just fly by. Ironically, she nicknamed me ‘Motor Mouf’ which was confusing to me because she wasn’t short on words and would always do her fair share of each inspired conversation. I appreciate and will always cherish those precious moments spent both on the phone and in person at the place we know as down home. I Love you Verda Mae and will keep you in my heart eternally.
Efrem.
