Joanne Hahn Hogle was born February 24, 1939 in Pekin, Illinois to Walter Edward Hahn, Sr. and Irene Glenn Peterson Hahn. She passed away March 27, 2022 in Waco, Texas. Joanne was a dental technician in the Navy, a Vietnam Veteran, and firmly believed in running a tight ship. She shared many stories of participating in a Navy sting operation called "The Wave, a Kiss and a Cop". She was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, American Spirit Honor Medal, Meritorious Mass, St. Augustine, New York. Joanne played first base for her softball team in the Navy, they nicknamed her "Stretch." She was a member of the American Legion for many years and VFW Post 1890.
After Joanne's time in the Navy, she became a librarian and school bus driver in the Avinger school district. She retired just shy of 38 years due to an illness.
Joanne was very close to her sister Jean, whom had preceded her in death and was buried on Joanne's birthday. Through the years, she would comment of all the days in a year why did she have to bury her sister on her (Joannes)birthday. Anyone that knows Joanne would find it of no coincidence "just out of the blue", Joanne died on March 27th- yes, her sisters birthday.
She is survived by her son, Scott Hogle and significant other Tammy Palacios of Waco; daughter, Kelleye Ketchum and husband Joey of Arkansas; grandchildren, Bull Eston Barrow Jr., Tiffany Hogle, Kori Helleson, Joshua Helleson, Matthew Helleson; great-grandchildren, Evie Lopez and Sophie Lopez; special family members, June Rutherford and Susan Peterson.
Services for Joanne Hahn Hogle will be 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2022 at Reeder-Davis Chapel under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.
She was the absolute sweetest to me all the years I had the privilege of having her as the school Librarian. Although you were to be absolutely quiet in the library, every once in awhile she’d crack a joke and we’d fill the library with laughter. And at times when I was struggling with testing on my book, she’d come and give me the answer 🤣 I loved her so much and always looked forward to seeing her. She was one amazing woman, and this world just won’t be the same without her ??
I'm so sorry for your loss. I really enjoyed the time I spent with her. She was a remarkable lady. God will take care of her now and He will grant the family and friends peace.
Kelleye and Scott, glad you could remember all of the stories and glad you shared.
Kellye , Scott and families, my love and prayers are with you as you grieve the loss of your mom. I have fond memories of her and feel the weight of her loss. ??
