Joyce Ann Watkins, 67, of Daingerfield, was born October 13, 1954 in Linden, Texas to Harvy D. and Mildred Lee Anderson. She passed away June 12, 2022 at her home. Joyce married Perry Watkins on February 20, 1971 in Linden, Texas.

Joyce worked for Daingerfield Lone Star ISD for 40 plus years as a bus driver, teachers aid and in the cafeteria. She enjoyed traveling, being with her family and nana’s little angels. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Janet Daniel and Judy Holloway.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Perry Watkins; children, Melissa Watkins, Matt Watkins and wife Brandi; grandchildren, Alexis Watkins, Lincoln Speight, Malcolm Speight, Madison Speight, Makayla Watkins, Makenzie Watkins, and Matt Watkins, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Nazzy Speight; brothers, Davis Anderson and Donny Anderson; sister-in-law, Patti McCain; and numerous nieces and nephews who she loved unconditionally.

Services for Joyce will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Veal Switch Baptist Church. Burial to follow at Center Grove Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation 6:00 until 8:00 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Veal Switch Baptist Church.

  1. Joyce was my bus driver as a child for several years and I have known her for 43 yrs.she was a beautiful soul. Always had a smile on her face til the end. I love her so very much. My thoughts and prayer are with her family. Fly high beautiful lady.
