Survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Mike Hampton; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Steve Putman, Mike and DeAnna Putman, Randy Putman and Lee Ann Johnson, all of Hughes Springs, TX. ten grandchildren, Jaysen Putman, Amy Blackwell (Justin), Jenna Long (Jeff), Jamie Putman, Jarrod Hampton, Erin Finn, (Brian) Dillon Putman, Dana Kelley (Stone) Sadie Putman, (Toni) and Cori Johnson; six great-grandchildren, Jack, Allison, Tripp, Jaycee, Kaysen, and Mitchell.
Betty was a member of Hughes Springs Missionary Baptist Church for many years. She was one of the oldest charter members there. She loved her church and church family and missed not being able to go in her later years due to her health. She served in various roles through out her years at Missionary.
Mom had a special nurturing love for her children. She raised them in church and taught them all about Jesus and how to be saved. Any time she made a new friend, she invited them to church. She took her grandchildren to church when their parents couldn't. She had a listening ear and inspired so many people.
Mom had an open door policy and always made room at the table for anyone who needed a meal or a place to stay. She enjoyed cooking for the family at holidays and was an excellent cook and hostess, always enjoying family get togethers. Her grandchildren would tell you she made the best Grannie Rolls of anyone.
Mom was gifted with a special talent and was a great artist. She painted some of the most beautiful pictures. She did commission work in her earlier life for people. Her home was decorated beautifully with her pictures and crafts.
She really enjoyed her yard and flowers and worked hard and it showed. The grounds were so pretty.
Her faith in God carried her through some very tough times. She was a fighter. She battled cancer, surgeries and treatments and in spite of her illness, would smile and would say "You have to die from something." Mom had an adventurous life with Dad. They traveled and got to see a lot of the country. She worked hard in their business and was there for our Dad to help him in any way she could. She loved his parents and her sisters and brothers-in-law. They were a large family and always up to something.
Thanks to all of her family and friends for their love and concern for Mom. Thanks to Windsor Place Nursing Facility and Heart to Heart Hospice for their wonderful care. Special thanks to Dr. Syed for his love and care for Mom.
She will be truly missed until we meet again. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to WOW (Women of Worship) or to the general fund at Hughes Springs Missionary Baptist Church or any cancer organization.
Services for Betty will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Hughes Springs Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation 6:00 until 8:00 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
