Pearly Rhyne Wormington, of Red Hill, Texas, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022; she was 72.
Born July 13,1950 in Linden, Texas, Ms. Wormington grew up to become a fierce protector of loved ones, friends and strangers alike, advocating often for the underdog to ensure well-being and fair treatment. She is known, in part, by friends and family for her broad smile, contagious laugh and a mischievous glint in her eyes.
An ardent supporter of family, she, “Sissy”, relished many weekends watching her grandchildren’s sporting events and continued her support of each including those grandsons who served and are currently serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and Army.
Ms. Wormington’s tenacity was evident to all who knew her, underscored in the early 1980s with a Texas State Wrist Wrestling Championship. A New Orleans Saints fan, she also was an avid outdoorswoman, hunter, and angler.
She collected antiques and fine dishware, searched for artifacts of American Indians and early settlers. She loved to cook and bake, feeding loved ones’ bellies and souls.
Ms. Wormington’s work was equally as diverse, most recently mastering jobs including teachers’ aide and school bus driver at Linden-Kildcare CSID.
Ms. Wormington continues to inspire friends and family. She is survived by her partner of several years, Frank Fowler, of Red Hill, Texas; brother, Richard Rhyne and wife Kathy, of Daingerfield, Texas; two children, Tammy (Wormington) Simmons, of Galveston, Texas, and Wayne Wormington, of Newport, Oregon; one step-son, Nolan Fowler and wife Lisa of Venus, Texas; one step-daughter, Georgie Swize and her husband Clayton of Midlothian, Texas, and ten grandchildren: grandsons Logan Simmons and wife Amie, of Tyler, Texas; Landon Simmons and wife Emily, of Texarkana Texas; Josh Wormington and wife Jamie of Missouri; Andrew Wormington and wife Isabel, of College Station, Texas, and Frankie Fowler and his wife Serenity of Venus, Texas; and four granddaughters, Morgan Bale of Little Elm, Texas; Samantha Fowler of Stephenville, Texas, and Cate and Reagan Swize of Midlothian, Texas. Ms. Wormington also is survived by two great grandsons, Brooks and Clyde and one great granddaughter, Kinsley; as well as numerous extended family members and beloved friends.
Ms. Wormington was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Jim Wormington, parents, Spurgeon and Frances Rhyne; and daughter Amanda Wormington, all of Linden, Texas.

She loved the climate, open scenery, camping & hunting. So full of life, and easy to talk to. A true friend. Rest in peace. Lord be with you.
