Wanda Riggins

December 23, 1936 ~ January 13, 2023

Wanda Tomberlain Riggins was born on the Tomberlain family farm in Hughes Springs on December 23, 1936. She went to be with the Lord on January 13, 2023. Wanda lived most of her life in East Texas. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family, going to church, and gardening. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing and embroidery.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Omer Joe Riggins; parents, Browd and Lola Tomberlain; infant son, Donald Gene Riggins; siblings, Charles Tomberlain, Buddy Tomberlain, Mary Quarles, and Carrie Walls; and great-granddaughter, Macie Dunbar.

She is survived by three sons, Billy Riggins of Lone Star; Larry Riggins and wife, Betty of Troup, TX, Tim Riggins and wife, Lesia of Marquez, TX; grandchildren, Dee and wife, Karen Riggins, Alesha Dunbar, Lara Beverly and husband, Shawn, Misty Riggins, Laura Freeman and husband, Mark, Lariann Haftel and husband Tim, Heather Smith and husband, Loyd; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Landon Riggins, Jonathan, Alissa, and Paige Dunbar, Adilynn and Cailynn Beverly, Lyla and Weston Haftel, Casyn, Cagyn, and Chaselynn Smith and Brinley Freeman; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2023 at Hughes Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.

The family wishes to give special thanks to family and friends who visited Wanda in the nursing home, especially Sheila Grimes and Judy Griffin. Thank you to The Springs Nursing Center staff for the love and care over the past three years.

  3. Paul, Katie and I are so sorry to hear that Ms. Wanda has passed. She was a wonderful and thoughtful friend to us and to my mother, Kitty Riley. She will be truly remembered with lots of love and great memories. Prayers to the family and all of her friends.
