Ella Mae Watkins 51, of Ore City, Texas passed on from this life on Sunday the 12th of February 2023 peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones. Ella was born Ella Mae Wilson on the 16th of May in 1971 in Sherman, Texas to Paula Schovanec and Harold Vawter. She was married to Marland Watkins on the 5th of August 1997 in Denison Texas. They got to spend 25 wonderful years married and together they raised 5 children, and have 11 grandchildren.

Ella was a pure soul, she loved her family and friends to no end, and she never knew a stranger. Ella loved to go deep sea fishing in Galveston, on camping trips in the mountains and spending time with her loved ones the most. She will be remembered by everyone she has ever known as a kind, loving, beautiful, compassionate and gentle person with a contagious smile and the ability to light up a room just by walking in. Her impact and influence on us and her memory will live on within our hearts for forever.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Ludvik and Ella Schovanec; and her mother-in-law, Pamela Watkins.

She is survived by her husband, Marland Watkins; parents, Paula Vawter and Harold Vawter; father-in-law, Melvin Watkins; children, Ashley Wilson, Blane Watkins, Brett Watkins, Christopher Watkins and April Meuller; her 11 grandchildren; sister, Angela Wilson; brothers, Keith Vawter and Kenneth Vawter; sister-in-law, Amy Gaskill; brother-in-law, Phillip Watkins; and countless other family members.

Services for Mrs. Watkins will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City. There will be a time of visitation from 5:00 until 7:00 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

  1. Ella was a great customer at the Marion County Tax Sales. Such a sweet sweet lady to work with…she kept me on my toes….at all times. We will miss her greatly.
