Amma Nan Pedersen

amma pedersen

June 23, 1931 ~ August 25, 2023

Resided in: Hughes Springs, Texas

Amma Nan (Nancy) Pedersen was born here in Hughes Springs, Texas on June 23.  She was preceded in death by husband, Jack B. Pedersen; her parents, Opal and Amma; and all four of her siblings, Laverne Hull, Francis Green and Ivy; and brother, Johnny Aycock.

After high school, Amma attended a business college in Tyler, Texas. Shortly after that she moved to Houston, Texas and worked at City Hall where she met my dad’s mother who insisted she meet her son. She married Jack Pedersen on July 2, 1950.

They remained in Houston until they had their son and daughter raised.

In the spring of 1978, Mom returned to Hughes Springs with Jack where the two of them built their house together. They were a team in everything they did including raising cattle, building and fixing fence, cutting and bailing hay, bushhogging pasture, feeding chickens, and cutting and splitting wood.

She was very involved in the First Methodist Church of Hughes Springs and served in various officer positions in the Order of Eastern Stars, always receiving praise for her proficiency in performing her duties.

Nancy lived on the land where she was born until the day she died, on August 25th 2023.

She is survived by her son, Ron Pedersen of Hughes Springs; daughter, Kathryn Pedersen of Houston; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Guestbook

  1. Candle 2Mrs. Amma Nan Pedersen was a very caring person who helped me and Nancy as we journeyed through our Junior and High school years. She was a wonderful person who loved her family and was a mentor, teacher, parent, and a comedian whose sense of humor was priceless. She consistently taught us about the true value aspects of life; those that mattered and those that took on less importance. She always displayed a genuine interest concerning our problems and ambitions. I am glad to know that Amma Nan is at peace in the Mansions of the Lord. I know that she will be missed by all who knew her!

  2. Candle 5Deepest condolences to the Pedersen family during this trying period. May the Good Lord lift you up with comfort and strength.

  3. Rest peacefully forever with Jack. You were a light in this world and an even brighter one in my life. You loved and treated me like a daughter. You will be missed as a mother is missed in my heart.

  4. Candle 2My condolences to Nancy’s family. She was a precious lady, who was a wonderful member of the Hughes Springs community. I’m so sorry to hear of her passing. With love
