Angie Pearl Boykin was born to Evelyn Gertrude Mixon on January 29, 1941, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Our lord called her home, and she earned her wings on July 25, 2025. She was a member of New Colony Baptist Church in Linden, Texas. Angie loved family and was the oldest of seven children, she joins two in heaven, Bill Whatley and Loretta Gray, and is survived by four, Judy Boyette (Jimmie), Bob Whatley (Becky), Lois Legg (Mark), and Mark Whatley (Dana). She had three children and through marriage, earned four more. Evie Carrigan (Billy), Merynda Fortenberry (Greg), Gail Ahnert (Bob), Ken Boykin (Nel), Dale Boykin (Ginger), Sue Rushing (Phil) and Nikki Boykin. All in all, she had 17 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was beyond blessed. After coming home from living overseas in Iran, she got her GED and began working in the health care field, working as an Activities Director at a nursing facility in Jackson, Mississippi, later after moving back to Texas, she began working for a home health organization, taking care of the elderly. She did have a heart as big as the State of Texas! After retiring, she became active in her church. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving, a time when her family would gather and cook, share recipes and play a few rounds of cards. (Hand and Foot) She loved everyone holding hands and saying what they were thankful for. She was thankful for us and we were thankful for her. She loved to love her family. Hostess with the mostest! I’m sure she wouldn’t want us to cry over her, just remember her smile and laugh. She has found that place He has prepared for her in heaven and has begun to decorate. She will be dearly missed, this is not goodbye, but see you later.

Gail, I am so sorry for your loss. As you know, I met Angie only briefly but that was long enough to recognize that she was a lovely woman. And to recognize that you took wonderful care of her. I pray that you can find peace.
