Ann Wells

LINDEN TX Ann Marie Maddox Wells, 84 was reunited with her husband, Floyd Ray Wells on Thursday, August 30, 2012. Introduced through friends in Houston, Ray and Ann married after only two months of their meeting each other. Ann often said that her greatest accomplishment in life was choosing the right father for her three children. Ray and Ann were married 53 years. Perhaps Anns finest gift was finding friends who would elevate her life and her familys lives. Through Cave Springs Baptist church in Linden, and the Community Club of Cave Springs, her life was truly enriched. Ann loved reading, doing puzzles, sitting on her front porch watching the grandchildren play and just surrounding herself with those she treasured, and being Nana to nine grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. In the past year, Ann put others in charge of remembering. She concentrated on keeping a positive attitude in spite of her illness and never stopped trying to communicate. Anns constant smile provided comfort to her family and caretakers. She kissed her daughter good night during one of their visits and said, I dont know who you are, but I like you. She liked everyone and always had a smile on her face. Ann was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on July 13, 1928. She is survived by daughter Linda and her husband, Kenneth King of Linden, daughter Beverly and husband Jobe Wiggins of Huntsville, Texas; her beloved Sis, Frances Jackson of Carson City, Nevada; nine loving grandchildren and 18 wonderful great grandchildren who were her pride and joy. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Ray Wells, son William Joseph (Joey) Wells, parents, Joe and Isabella Maddox, two sisters, Martha Jo Watkins and Edna Jean Keeney. She blessed her family with a home filled with warmth, security, and love. There was always something cooking in her kitchen. Among her many legacies are her pecan pies that she shared with the community and her dozens of chocolate chip cookies she made for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She cherished living her life through her childrens lives. Ann served as PTA president, room mother chairs, football team mom, taxi driver, and devoted cheerleader to her three children. Her family would like to thank Kathy Hayden, Norma Ramsey and Janice Jaunett whose devotion resulted in deep friendships with her. Special thanks to Dr. Karl Mahaffey for his professionalism, expertise and dedication to Ann. Funeral services will be at 10:00am, Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Cave Springs Baptist Church in Linden. Interment will be in Cave Springs Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis-Schindler Funeral Home in Linden. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Cave Springs Cemetery Association, 3740 CR 1617, Avinger, TX 75630.
