Apolinar “Polo” Martinez, born September 2, 1945, in San Juan de Guadalupe, Durango, Mexico, passed away peacefully at his home in Linden, Texas on December 22, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Polo moved to Linden, in November of 1986, where he built a life rooted in hard work, perseverance, and devotion to those he loved. For 39 years, he worked faithfully for the Sullivan Companies, where he was deeply valued not only for his dedication and skill, but for the kind of man he was. He was regarded as family by those he worked alongside, and that bond endured through life’s joys and hardships.

Despite having limited formal schooling, Polo was an exceptionally intelligent and capable man. There was little he could not fix, build, or figure out, and he was always willing to help others with his knowledge and steady hands. He was known as a hardworking provider, a devoted father, and a man of quiet strength.

Polo dearly loved his family. He had a playful spirit, a mischievous sense of humor, and a deep affection for animals. His laughter, kindness, and presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Rosa Uribe Peña and Isela Vega Martinez; his brother, Mariano Martinez; and his sister, Ofelia Martinez.

He is survived by his beloved children: Gerardo, Minerva, Martina, Rodrigo, and Olivia Martinez. He leaves behind one grandson, Luis Martinez of Linden, along with several grandchildren residing in San Antonio and Mexico, and a few great-grandchildren in Mexico. He is also survived by his brother, Natalio Martinez; his sister, Maria Martinez; and a host of extended family members, dear friends, and his cherished work family, who remained close to him throughout his life.
