Sister Betty Lee Stafford Gholston was born in Jacksonville, Texas on June 13, 1933 to the late Herman and Inez Stafford. Betty completed school in Seagoville, Texas and later moved to California where she met the love of her life, Mr. Charles Gholston. They joined in matrimony in 1960 and remained a loving and inseparable couple for 55 years upon her death. Sister Betty confessed Christ at an early age and served faithfully as an usher for many years in her local church. Upon moving back to Texas, she joined the Union Chapel Baptist Church in Jacksonville, serving under the leadership of Rev. James Fuller until her health failed. Betty worked as a caretaker for the Hunt family of Hunts Tomato Products for over 40 years. After a long productive life, Betty Lee Stafford Gholston entered rest on May 31, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Rosie Johnson; two brothers, Arthur Leon and Herman (Woodie) Stafford. Those left with everlasting memories include her loving, devoted husband, Mr. Charles Herman Gholston; one brother, Willie Stafford and his wife Renell of Athens, Texas; one sister, Geneva Allen of Houston, Texas; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June, 5, 2015 at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mrs. Gholston will lie in state from Noon until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
