Betty Jo Simmons

Betty Jo Simmons, 79, of Douglassville, Texas passed away on Friday, July 26, 2019. Mrs. Simmons was born July 16, 1940 in the Black Jack Community outside of Jefferson, Texas to R.B. “Dad” Kirkland and Juanita Forbes.
Betty was a Christian wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked in various jobs throughout her life but being the wife of a newspaperman was her proudest which lead her to live all over Texas. They lived from East to West Texas and from the Panhandle to the very South tip.
She is survived by three daughters, Dana Simmons-Jackson and husband David, Denise Padilla and husband Jeff, Dawn Mitchell; seven grandchildren, Sarah Davidson (Adam), Jacob Evans, Cody Jackson (Ashley), Caleb Evans, Kate Mitchell, Chase Jackson, Heather Mancha (Nick); eleven great-grandchildren, Jordan, Kanyon, Kingston, Kutter, Sawyer, Fisher, Abby Jo, Nico, Nolan, Parker and Savanna.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 47 years, Wallace Simmons; son, Shannon Simmons; granddaughter, Megan Fitzwater and her “sister” Winnie Malley.
Services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at the Douglassville Cemetery and under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden.
