Bobby Joe White

Dr. Bobby Joe (“Bob”) White, 92, of Linden, Texas, formerly of Octavia, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, in Atlanta, Texas, surrounded by loving family. Bobby Joe was born September 2, 1927, in Octavia, Oklahoma to Idus and Aria White. He served his country proudly in the United States Army. On July 1, 1950 he married Cornelia Faye Wheat in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Dr. White was a life long educator, having served as a teacher in Caddo, Oklahoma, Lovington, New Mexico, and Houston, Texas; principal at Perrin Air Force Base in the Sherman, Texas ISD; college professor at East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas (now known as Texas A&M – Commerce), and Coordinator of Teacher Education at Arkansas College in Batesville, Arkansas (now known as Lyon College). He was very active in the Octavia Volunteer Fire Department for many years, and recognized as one if its’ founders. He was a faithful member of the Octavia Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., February 8, 2020 at Octavia Baptist Church, with Pastors Ed Rogers and Jason McNutt officiating, followed by burial at Octavia Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home of Linden, Texas.
Dr. White is survived by four daughters, Sharon Washington of Linden, Texas; Debbie Hansen and husband Jim of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; Barbara Loyd of Spring, Texas; Cheryl Rogan of Houston, Texas and son Billy White and wife Priscilla of Plano, Texas. Other survivors are grandchildren Jason McNutt and wife Mandi; Bobby McNutt and wife Rachelle; Terri Green and husband Brandon; Brandon White and wife Jamie; Eric White; Amy Grissom and husband Kevin; Sara McCandlis and husband Kyle; Alison Lanzillotti and husband Joe; Valerie Draper; Ryan Suescun; Megan Deister and husband Collin; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Bobby Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Idus and Aria White; wife of 52 years Cornelia White; sons-in law James Washington and Bill Loyd; and daughter-in-law Sharon White.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Octavia Fire Department, P.O. Box 38, Smithville, OK 74957.

I was in high school at Matoy, OK when Bob was an educator there. Then I kept up with Cornelia & Bob as I could after that. I don’t recall ever hearing anything negative about either of them. Very honorable man. God bless his surviving family.r
U was a wonderful person to work with at the nursing home I know it's hard on the family but at least he is not suffering anyone he is at peace now and heal. Fly high Bobby
