Bro. Jackie D. Stanfield

August 5, 1953 ~ October 31, 2020
Jesus said “I have made you a light so that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.” On August 5, 1953, Jack David Stanfield’s light began to shine and he labored each day to bring salvation to anyone he met until he carried his light to his Heavenly home on Saturday, October 31, 2020.
Jackie was the son of Joe and Geraldine Stanfield and baby brother of Jerry Wayne Stanfield. He was born in Athens, Texas and raised in Malakoff, TX where he graduated in 1971. He married his sweetheart, Sherilyn Kay, on August 21, 1971 at First Baptist Church, Malakoff in Malakoff, Texas. Jackie answered the call to ministry on July 14, 1974 and preached his first sermon on July 21, 1974 in First Baptist Church, Malakoff.
Jackie attended East Texas Baptist College in Marshall, TX where he graduated in 1978. He graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth Texas in 2002 with a Masters of Divinity.
Jackie’s greatest accomplishment was raising his four children and leading each of them to Jesus. He was always happy to tell anyone about Jana and her husband Bobby Fowler, Missy and her husband JJ Lee, David and his wife, Amanda Stanfield, and Justin and his wife, Mallory Stanfield. Jackie’s greatest joy was spending time with his twelve grandchildren, Todd, Donovan, Reagan, Miki, Chase, Caitlyn, Jackson, Azlynne, Ashlyn, Jett, Kamryn and Blake.
Jackie served in ministry for over forty years. As Pastor, he served at Poyner Baptist Church; Bethsadia Y Baptist Church; First Baptist Church Maud; McClendon-Chisum Baptist Church; Telephone Baptist Church; New Life Baptist Church; Rosanky Baptist Church; Highland Hills Baptist Church; First Baptist Church Linden; Open Door Baptist Church; and his light was shining brightly with his new church family at First Baptist Church Avinger.
Jackie is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Geraldine Stanfield; his mother-in-law, Joyce Kupfer, his brother-in-law, Jerry McDaniel, and his beloved grandson, Donovan, who we know was waiting to see his Papa Jack as soon as he entered Glory.
Jackie is survived by his precious wife, Sherry of 49 years; his brother Jerry Wayne Stanfield and sister-in-law, Sue Stanfield; his father-in-law, Gert Kupfer; his extended family, Charles and Debbie Henderson, Debbie and Gary Bessett, Michael Kupfer, Julie and Skip Evans, Mickey and Debbie Rorex and their children, Mistie, Phillip, and Megan; many nieces and nephews, precious friends and thousands of brothers and sisters in Christ.
Jackie loved hunting, fishing, eating Blue Bell ice cream, traveling to Branson and the beach, and watching his Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns play football. However, nothing gave him greater joy than bragging about his grandkids who will each tell you they are spoiled rotten and proud of it. As he fought the good fight and finished his race, we take comfort in knowing his last words spoken were, “I'm ready.” Well done Papa Jack. We love you more than all the sand in all the oceans.
Services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 7, 2020 at the First Baptist Church in Maud with Bro. Mickey Rorex, Bro. Rusty Goodwin and Bro. Tim Ellis officiating. Burial to follow in the Center Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden.
Love and prayers for you all. May God bless you, and give you peace beyond understanding.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of a dear man. We both met Jackie and family at different times as he served our home churches. He was one of the best pastors we’ve ever had. We will be praying for the Stanfield family during this time, but we also will be celebrating with them knowing he’s with his Savior.
Dear Jana and the rest of the family, I'm so very sorry for your loss. I know you all were a very close family and that you will give each other the comfort needed at this time.

What a gift it is to know that Bro Jackie is walking with Jesus. He was more than just my Pastor he was my teacher and I know he loved me. I love this family and I hate that I cannot see you in person due to illness. But I will be praying for your peace.

As a widow of a pastor/preacher/teacher for 58 years, I know your pain and loss. I also know that our God will sustain you and give strength thru all this. I have grown to love Bro. Jackie and all his family and will miss him greatly. He helped strengthen and bind our church family at a time when we really needed it. It is my prayer that we can continue the work that he started here in Avinger. I will continue to keep you all in my prayers and just know that I care. With Love, Betty Carter

Bro. Jackie was my pastor and friend.. Always had time for me or my family. His sense of humor was contagious. He could instantly change your mood. He loved his Lord and beautiful family. Gone too soon.
Love and prayers.
Dearest Sherry,
This is Linda Rice. As you probably know, Larry graduated to Heaven on December 17, 2019.
I totally understand your pain and that of your precious family. This past year has been hard, but God’s comfort has been never ending. He has been so real to me and He will be to you. You are His daughter and He loves you with an everlasting love. I’m sure Larry was among the first to welcome Jackie into Heaven’s portals. In the future, if you would like to talk, my cell number is 903-767-0697. I tried to call you, but the numbers I have are no longer correct. Our son Steve who is just now recovering from Covid called me tonight and told me about Bro. Jackie’s home going! I grieve with you and for you. I love you Sherry. I have some precious memories of us four together. I’m here for you if you need me. Please text me your phone number and address at the above cell number when you can. Nothing seems quite real for you now, but it will get a little better with God’s help. No rush on the phone number or address. Prayers ascending for you and all of your family. 🙏??👆🤗
So sorry for your loss, prayers for you and your family.
Praying for His peace.
My thought and prayers are still with you. You know I loved Bro. Jackie, as well as the rest of you all. Be strong.
