Calvert Morrow

June 10, 1931 ~ November 19, 2012
LINDEN TX-Calvert Cal Wright Morrow, 81, AKA Avon Man, entered into eternal peace on November 19, 2012. Cal arrived into this world on June 10, 1931 in Bear Creek community to parents Marion and Loretta Morrow. Cal was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He worked hard to promote a happy life for his family. As a young man he spent two years serving our country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Cal was always an entrepreneur at heart. After leaving the Army, he worked at several companies. He even owned and operated a small grocery store in the Center Grove community. He later found his niche at Red River Army Depot. He had many wonderful times and memories during his 28 years at Red River. His entrepreneurship came to life after his retirement when he founded Morrow Enterprise. Through this endeavor he successfully sold Stanley Products, Fuller Brush, Blair, Mason Shoes, Watkins and Avon. For the last 22 years, he was better known for Avon sales. Although, family and friends will dearly miss him, those who preceded him in death welcomed him with open arms. They include his parents, his first wife, Doris Faye Price Morrow, one brother, Garvin Rodney Morrow, two sisters, Nina Mae Duncan and Sarah Francis Dean and a step-son, Johnny Ray Barnes. Cal is survived by his wife, Ruby Pearl Morrow; son, James Allan Morrow of Linden; one daughter, Stella Faye Graham of San Antonio; granddaughter, Jennifer Telzrow of San Antonio; two great granddaughters, Lexi and Tori Eubanks of San Antonio; two stepsons, William and Tom Barnes of DeKalb; stepdaughter, Charlotte Hawkins of DeKalb; step-grandsons, Ronald Duke, William Bubba Barnes, Jr., and Cory Barnes; step-granddaughters, Tracey Hawkins, Latisha Barnes, Carrie Barnes and Chelsea Barnes; numerous step great grandchildren and other family and friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm Friday November 23, 2012 in the chapel of Reeder-Davis-Schindler Funeral Home in Linden with Bro. Ernest Hodge officiating. Interment will be in Bear Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. The family would like to send special thanks for the outstanding care and love provided to our Daddy and grandfather. We want to thank the staff of Good Shepherd Medical Center -Linden and Longview and Good Shepherd Glenn-Garret Clinic for the outstanding long term care you provided. There are not enough words to express our love and gratitude for the care that you provided to Cal and us during such a delicate time in our lives. Thank you to Curtis Hunt for the beautiful haircuts and years of friendship; and to Jerry Berry for a job well done. We appreciate you both immensely. Our loving family will forever be grateful for the selfless acts of kindness, generosity and love shown to Cal and us. To some he was known as Lonesome Cal, the Bear Creek Kid but to us he will always be Daddy, Papa Cal and Cal. Prayers to the family. I first remember seeing Mr. Morrow with a cigarette that had just been rolled, at the dump here in Linden. He was looking for Campbell soup labels for his daughter who was a teacher. Also other labels & upc codes for couponing. Later he was "Avon calling".
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. D.H. McCain
