Services for Carla Mae Niblett McCain, 80, of Avinger will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 11, 2006 at First Baptist Church, Avinger with Rev. Melinda Beasley and Rev. Dennis Gibbons officiating. Interment will follow at Avinger Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Mrs. McCain died Wednesday, August 8, 2006 at her residence. She was born December 3, 1925 in Hughes Springs, TX to Carl Clyde and Willie Mae Niblett. She graduated from high school in Jefferson, Texas. She married W.A. ?Bill? McCain, November 6, 1943. For forty years she and her husband owned and operated WA McCain Grocery and Market in Avinger. She was a life-long member of Avinger First United Methodist Church, where she had served on the Administrative Board and was a member of the Marthas. She was a member of the Martha McGraw Chapter of DAR and was Chapter Regent for six years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Avinger. She was a former member of the Avinger City Council and former Avinger Citizen of the Year. Mrs. McCain was a member of Avinger Lions Club, past president of 1936 Study Club, and a director of Wildflower Trails of Texas for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her three children, Dinah McCain of Avinger, Molly Loving of Hughes Springs and Pid McCain, and wife, Pam, of Hughes Springs; four grandchildren, Meredith Woitas, Brent Loving, Haley McCain and Landon McCain; and one great grandchild, Alex Woitas. Viewing and visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening at the funeral home and the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Avinger First United Methodist Church, 200 Church St., Avinger, TX 75630.
