Memorial services for Evangelist Cecelia Bates, 53, of Henderson, will be 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M., Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs. Evangelist Bates was born October 17, 1958 in Naples and passed away August 4, 2012 at her home. Evangelist Cecelia Bates was born to the late Robert and Zettie Jones. She joined church at an early age. She graduated high school here in Daingerfield, from there she attended Jarvis Christian College and went on to IBM College, where she graduated. She was employed at Texas Eastman for over 20 years. She also was a foster parent for the state of Texas for over 25 years. She was a true woman of God. She became an evangelist and spread the word of God everywhere she went. She leaves to mourn, one son Damone Bates; five brothers Carl (Thelma) Jones, Chester (Virgie) Denmark, Ernest (Mildred) Denmark, Gary (Tina) Jones, Christopher (Abbie) Jones; six sisters Lillie (William) Carter, Glinda Mims, Janet Lee, Sheran (Butch) James, Elaine (Jimmy) Echols, Elizabeth Davis; one special aunt Bobbie Lee; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends in Christ.

  3. I am so sorry to hear of Cecelia untimely passing. She was such an inspiration to those around her and a Godly woman. She was such a giving person and was always putting herself aside to help others. I worked with her at Eastman and she was always the same when you met her. May she rest in peace.

  4. To Damone and Family, so many precious memories of Sister Bates, yet the most is her encouraging words that she would share. I remember her awesome voice, singing in the Mass Choir at Red Oak, " Have Your Way Lord In This Place" what a bless Woman of God. May God bless you Damone and give you the strenght to carry on. We worked together at Eastman and attended church at Galilee-Longview, where she was an inspiration to everyone at work and at church. I will keep your family in my heart and in my prayers.
