HUGHES SPRINGS, TXClaudia B. Dowell Royal entered this world on January 7, 1925 in Avinger, TX with her parents being the late John Walter and Amanda Dowell. She attended public schools in Cass and Marion counties. Claudia united with Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Avinger, TX. She was united in marriage on March 13, 1944 to Clinton Royal and to this union six children were born and reared. Claudia worked in the domestic field, later she was employed by United Ammo, and her final workplace was food servicing in Linden, TX and Theron Grainger Nursing Facility. Upon retirement she spent her time with grandkids and fishing. She ruled her home well even from her sick bed. She passed away August 16, 2012. Claudia was preceded in death by her parents; her spouse; one daughter; four sisters; and 4 brothers. Her memories are left to three daughters Julie Royal, of Hughes Springs, TX, Wanda Gaston (Dennis), of Marietta, TX, and Claudia Espie (Perry), of Desoto, TX; two sons Billy Royal (Elizabeth), of Hughes Springs, TX, and Glyen Royal (Clara), of Avinger, TX; one brother Willie V. Dowell (Louisa), of Avinger, TX; two brother-in-laws Everett (Florence) Royal, of Hughes Springs, TX, and James (Barbara) Denmark, of Longview, TX; two sister-in-laws Vivian Royal, of Dallas, TX and Armie Wade, of Sulphur Springs, TX; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 24, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Hughes Springs. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the funeral home.
