Curtis Lynn Adams was born November 24, 1929 and passed away December 3, 2015. He lived all his life in the Concord Community between Hughes Springs and Linden. He enjoyed growing up on the farm and living near many relatives. He attended Concord Community School and later Hughes Springs School, where he was active in sports and represented his area FFA in state and the national convention in Kansas City. Curtis was a man who loved to work. After high school and marrying Doris, he helped his father, Paul Adams, paint many of the homes and businesses in the area. He worked for Reilly Tar for sixteen years. Then at Lone Star Steel in the millwright department for eighteen years. For the next few years he spent most of the time improving his farm and helping others. He enjoyed working until his mid seventies for R.B. Naramore Construction. Curtis enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and going fishing in the ponds. Known as Pops to the family after the first grandchild arrived, Curtis was a man who loved his family and friends. He was a capable man willing to help someone in need or just wanting. He was a member and attended Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Curtis served on the Hughes Springs ISD school board when the school was moved to the present location and the new football field was built. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Bernice Adams; and brother, Billy Ray Adams. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Doris Adams of Hughes Springs; son, Billy Paul Adams and wife Jeannie of Hughes Springs; daughter, Jenny Lynn Rust and husband Gary of Longview; four grandchildren, Kenneth Lynn Rust and wife Jennifer, Clint Rust and wife Jonna, Joel Windham and wife Michelle, and Jessica Ramsey and husband Rustin; great-grandchildren, Gracie Lynn Rust and Curtis Paul Rust, who both share a part of "Pop's" name, Will Windham, Payton Windham, Brock Windham, Jaxson Ramsey, and Falyn Ramsey; three sisters-in-law, Jeanette Douglas, Venita Morris and husband Bill, Pam Smith and husband Ronny; brother-in-law, Pete Barnard and wife Nickie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. The last few years Curtis was a resident at Windsor Place in Daingerfield. Pops made the statement many times, There sure is a good bunch of people up here. The family thanks everyone for helping him feel loved and cared for. Services for Mr. Adams will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Reeder-Davis Chapel with Bro. James Bynum officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation from 6 until 8 Friday evening at the funeral home.
