A memorial visitation will be held for David B. Hootie Elrod, 71, of Hughes Springs, from 2:00 until 4:00, Sunday afternoon at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mr. Elrod was born October 8, 1941 in Linden, Texas and passed away January 31, 2013 at a Linden hospital. Hootie was a member of Rocky Branch Baptist Church, loved vacations with his family, Dallas Cowboys, Nascar and working in his yard. He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents. Survivors include his mother, Pauline Elrod; his wife of 33 years, Pat Elrod; three sons, Layne Elrod (Tami), Marty Elrod (Kerri), Kenney Carwile (Jenn); one daughter Kristy Carwile (Kristen); ten grandchildren who called him Papa, Alex Carwile, Jason Elrod, Sarah Elrod, Gracie Elrod, Natalie Elrod, Dylan Carwile, Sean Elrod, Emily Elrod, Abby Carwile, Kaeden Carwile. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
So sorry for your loss. He will be missed by many.
Pat we were devastated when we heard about Hootie. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Hootie will be missed by many people. But remember you are loved by many people and we are here for you if you need us.

I have fond memories of riding around with Hootie in Naples and having classes with him at Pewitt. I am so sad that I didn't get to see and talk to him before his death. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
Hootie was a wonderful man and great friend. Even though we haven't been close in many years I feel sure if I needed hime he would come. He will be missed.
