Graveside Services for Donald Carl "Duke" Terry will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Avinger under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mr. Terry will lie in state from 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2020 at the funeral home.
Donald Terry, affectionately known as "Duke", departed this life July 20, 2020 and now rest in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Duke was born May 22, 1957 to the late Willie Carl and Bobbie Jean Terry. At an early age, he accepted Christ and was baptized at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Avinger, Texas.
Duke attended Hughes Springs High School, where he finished his education and later moved to Dallas to work several jobs. He returned to Hughes Springs where he worked a number of years at MTI and Trico. He was a great caregiver to both parents until their departure. If anyone knew Duke, you would have known he was a passionate Cowboys fan and loved his family dearly. It's just too bad the Cowboys couldn't have won a Superbowl before his passing. Duke always was an outspoken and well opinionated person and that is what we will miss the most.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Carl and Bobbie Jean Terry; one brother, Kevin Terry; one grandson, Jy'Kamrion Hartfield; two nephews, SSG Samuel Castle, Javon Terry; and one niece, Leticia Rabb.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his only child and caregiver, April Hartfield (Teric, Sr.); three grandchildren, C'Krete Hartfield, Teric, Jr., and Cherrish Williams, all of Hughes Springs; seven brothers, Willie "Bill" (Trish) Terry of Dallas, Ronnie "Block" (Teresa) Terry of Avinger, Danny "Limp" Terry of Hughes Springs, Darrin "Bay" (Shawantra) Terry of Daingerfield, Morris, Lewis, and Curtis Rabb all of Avinger; three sisters, Della Payne of Hughes Springs, and Wilma, Shirley and Wanda Rabb all of Avinger; close friend as well as a special friend, Naomi Hartfield; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
I m so sorry to hear about Duke's transition. He was always so kind to me. Praying for the Family.
