January 28, 1929 ~ November 7, 2015
Dude Laster, 86, of Shreveport, LA was born January 28, 1929 in Starks, La to John Laster and Rose Jordan and journeyed to heaven on November 7, 2015 to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. When Dude was born his father John said, Now thats a little Dude. So his dad named him Dude Laster from that point on. He plowed gardens for his mother and cut timber for his dad in Lodi until he joined the Navy in WWII. He later married Myrtle Jane Dooley Laster Tippit and had two children, Jerrie Ann Laster Holland and Rickey Lynn Laster. He loved his family and was truly devoted to them in all ways. He raised his children in a Christian home where God was mentioned everyday. He worked for Lodi Drilling Co. in Lodi, TX. His boss was Sonny McKnight and best friend Rudolph Price for many years until he moved his family to Shreveport where he worked for Red Ball Motor Freight until he retired. Dude thought more about others than himself. Never said no to helping anyone and always had a smile or joke for a friend. His gentle spirit and kindness to others left him with many friends. He was much loved and will be terribly missed by his family and all who knew him. He is survived by his daughter, Jerri Ann Holland of Willis, TX.; two grandsons, Jason Keith Holland of Conroe, TX., Jonathan Taylor Laster of North Carolina; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Rose Laster of Jefferson, TX and his son, Rickey Lynn Laster of Linden,TX.
