Services for Ivan Dwaine Barthol, 66, of Hughes Springs will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Hughes Springs with Bro. Daniel Bramlett and Bro. Larry Neeley officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home of Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.Dwaine Barthol was born September 7, 1949 to Willie and Mary Lou Barthol in Jasper, Texas and passed away February 19, 2016.
He graduated from Jasper High School in 1968. He attended Panola Jr. College and then married Debbie Pate Barthol. He was co-owner of B D Concrete Construction Company and managed to obtain his B.B.A. at Stephen F. Austin State University. He moved to Hughes Springs and became Foreman of Reliable Pipe Service.
Dwaine left his position and attended East Texas State University to obtain his teacher certification. He then became a Teacher at Paul Pewitt Elementary, where he taught math for 25 years.
He believed in honesty and integrity, and was an avid fisherman. The only thing more important was his faith, his family and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Debbie Barthol; daughters Brooke Dannelley and husband William and Brandi Smith and husband Nick; five grandchildren, Landon, Dawson and Tessa Dannelley, and Tyler and Avery Smith all of Hughes Springs. He has five brothers, Randy, Jack, Tracy and Earnest Barthol and Bubba Gage, II. He has five sisters, Jo Ann Stephenson, Judy Shaw, Jeannie Barthol, Kim Summey and Martha Bridwell; also his mother-in-law, Maxine Pate.
Dwaine was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Barthol and Mary Lou Barthol Gage; two brothers Stephen and Jeffrey Barthol and father-in-law John Pate.

  2. I am so sorry to hear about Dwaine. We were classmates and graduated together from Jasper High School (Class of 1968). He was a sweet, kind and good man and will greatly missed by all who knew him. My thoughts and prayers go out to all his family.

  3. Dwaine was almost exactly one month older than me. Just two old Beech Grove kids. He was a great man, kind, gentle and compassionate. He truy will be missed. Rest in Peace, Dwaine, well see you when the Lord comes back.

  8. I got the honor to have him as my math teacher and also to work with him as I worked at Pewitt Elem through college. He is the only reason I love math. He was strict but once you got to know him he was very sweet and caring. He wanted the best for his students. I will greatly miss him. Prayers for Mrs. Barthol and family. May God wrap your arms around you and give you peace and comfort at this time.

  9. I am so sorry to learn of Mr. Barthols death. I subbed at Pewitt and my children were his students. He was a very nice man and we enjoyed knowing him. Your family is in my prayers.
