LINDEN TX Known to some as E. J., to others, he was known as Joy, he quietly slipped into his heavenly home on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at his home in Karnack. Services will be Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the Chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden, Texas at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Linden Cemetery. Officiating will be Bro. Jeff Croley long time pastor and friend of the family. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 6pm 8pm at the funeral home. E. J. was born June 7, 1944 in Linden, Texas to Emmett and Maxine Warrington Turner. He lived in Linden, Texas and Jefferson, Texas during his school years. He served in the United States Army from 1963 1966 settling in Marshall, Texas after returning from the service. E. J. worked for Thiokol and Alcoa before beginning his career in the oilfield during the 70s and 80s. He worked for Harrison County Road and Bridge from 1989 until his retirement in 2005. Joy and Suzanne were members of Pope City Baptist Church in Woodlawn. Joy married the love of his life in Las Vegas, NV on February 21, 1988. They were 6 weeks short of their 25 year wedding anniversary. Joy is survived by his wife Suzanne Hamilton Turner, step-daughter Tracy Turner, Grandson Casey Turner and wife Becky, great granddaughter Ryleigh Nicole Turner, (aka Hoot to her Dawdy) whom he absolutely adored and great grandson Casey Darell C. J. Turner, Jr., (aka Rascal to his Dawdy) the newest addition to the family all of Karnack, Texas, Brothers Gaylon Turner and wife Anne of Jefferson, Texas, and Doyle Turner and wife Carol of Kilgore, Texas, Sister June Rae of Minneola, Kansas, Mother-in-law, Sally Hamilton of Marshall, Texas, Brothers-in-law Michael Hamilton of Kemp, Texas and Phillip Hamilton and wife Beth of Haughton, LA and numerous nieces and nephews. Joy was preceded in death by his parents, sister Leda Holley, brothers Gerald and Wade, brother-in-law Darrell Thomas and his father-in-law Curtis Hamilton.

  3. It was truly an honor to have know Joy. Growing up with all the Turner kids and then later in life getting to really know their mom and her perfect skills of sewing. You would never meet Joy when he didn't smile and say "Hello". He wasn't a man of many words but when he did speak, you had better listen, because he meant what he said. Our heartfelt love and prayers are with each of his family members. May our Lord and Savior wrap each of you with His warm hands and may each of you feel His warmth and healing powers.
