Emily Lauren Henderson Strode, 32, of Katy, Texas passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 6. She was born November 9, 1985, in Longview, Texas to Jay and Lynn Henderson.  She graduated from Crandall High School in 2004. Emily graduated from Texas A&M in 2008 with a degree in psychology and attended LeTourneau University and graduated with a Masters Degree in Christian Counseling in 2016. 

Emily married James Robert Strode of Spring Texas on November 29, 2008. She was a licensed professional counselor intern and was genuinely devoted to the mental health of her clients.  Emily was a faithful member of Cy-Fair church of Christ.  She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister.  She loved spending time with her family, following Texas A&M sports, and spending time in the country.

Emily is survived by her husband James(Jay) and three sons, Ethan 6, Evan 4, and Owen 2. Also, parents Jay and Lynn Henderson of Longview and parents-in-law Kathleen and Jerry Strode of Spring, sister Elizabeth and her husband Jason Panell of Wylie, Texas and brother Jonathan and wife Jennifer Henderson of West Chester, Ohio.  Emily is also survived by brothers and sister-in-law Matthew Strode and wife Rachel of Flint, Texas, Ryan Strode of Cypress, and Kathleen Hanzelka and husband Ty of Houston.  Emily leaves behind several aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews and a maternal grandmother Dorothy Lewis of Longview, Texas.  She is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather John W. Lewis of Ore City, paternal grandparents J.T (Ted) Henderson and Willie Mae Henderson of Ore City. 

Emily was truly loved and admired by all those who knew her. Her absence will be deeply felt

Local services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Henderson Family Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City. There will be a time of visitation from 5:00 until 7:00 Monday evening at the funeral home.

  7. My heart has a huge empty place for my sweet precious Emily. I know we will go on, Emily would want us to. She would allow us to mourn, then she would tell us to live and keep her memory living. And so we will. But there will not be one single day that we won’t miss her. Em-Aunt Suzie misses you terribly. I can’t wait to get to hug you again one day. I love you babe.
