Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation from 5 until 7 Friday evening at the funeral home. Ermidean Vaunceil Hill was born on May 19, 1932 to Haydee and Geneva James (both deceased) in Cass County Texas. She was the oldest of four children. Ermidean was the only daughter amonst her brothers who all preceded her in death, Claude Bubba James (Marilou, deceased), Charles Sonny James (Doris, deceased) and Jeffro Jeff James (Arvis). Ermidean attended school within the Mount Olive Community in Cass County and accepted Christ as her savior at an early age. She was married to Matthew Wesley Hill (deceased) in 1949 and to this union 5 children were born. Audrey Mann (Willie) of DeSoto, TX, Charette Hill of Hughes Springs, TX., Roslynn Hill of Cedar Hill, TX, Denise Bell of Stuttgard, AR. and Deborah Hill of Naples, TX. To cherish her memory she also leaves her grandchildren, Shaneka Kemp, (TX) Ebonie Perkins (TX) Will Mann (NY), Amber Hunt (CA), Dawn Riggins (CA), Charette Hill II (CA), Misty Hill (CA), Jonathon Bell (deceased), Ashley Reeves (AR), Aleice Reeves (AR). Ermidean leaves twelve great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She leaves nieces and nephews of several generations and a host of cousins and friends. In addition, cherished by her special cousins Susie James and Doris Hall and her special niece Bernice Chism. In reflecting over her life, all would say that she LOVED children. God gave her a gift of making everyone feel they belonged to her. She was Big Mama to all that entered into her life. She loved to cook and care for others. If there was one word that would describe Big Mama it would be MOTHER!
