Eugene "Buddy" Stabeno

Eldore Eugene Stabeno, known as Buddy to his family and close friends, made his transition to heaven in the arms of God’s heavenly angels on January 3, 2022, while at home in Linden, Texas. 

He was born on May 28, 1926, to his parents, Adolph and Emma Stabeno, in Holland, Texas. 

Buddy spent his career as a finish carpenter and was in high demand for his attention to detail and fine woodwork. He was a perfectionist and was well known for his superb quality of work.   

He loved God, family, gardening, fishing, playing dominoes and cards, and his canine companion, Scooter, whom he loved dearly.   

Buddy was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Faye Stabeno and daughter, Dorothy Faye Stabeno.  He is survived by his sons, Henry "Jim" Stilwell and wife Linda, of Jackson, Tennessee, Edwin Stabeno and wife Terry, of Florence, Texas, William Stabeno and wife Kristina, of Linden, Texas; daughter, Gayle Campbell and Daniel Burke, of Pflugerville, Texas; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. 

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the kind staff of Heritage Home Health & Hospice of Atlanta who provided invaluable care and support during the last year.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local hospice organization or another charity of your choice. 

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 6, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. at Reeder Davis Funeral Home in Linden, Texas. Funeral services will be held at the same location on Friday, January 7, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Shiloh Cemetery.

  1. So sorry to hear about your loss. Buddy was a great friend to all. He will be greatly missed. My prayers and sympathy is extended to all the family.

  2. I can't be there in person, but our whole family always loved Buddy, I consider you all my extended family I know he will always be missed, but never forgotten. He had a good life, and a good family That has been a blessing! Now, he has returned to our maker, like so many of our parents already have. But, we are still here. I love you all, and my heart is with you all on this day.

  4. I just learned of his passing today. Wish I could have come to pay my respects. I felt as welcome in his home as I did in my own. Eugene, William, Gail and family my prayers are that you will find comfort in Christ.

    I remember my parents going to visit them when I was young. I especially remember Lillie, my mother's name was Lillie.

  6. Sorry to hear Mr. Stabeno passed. I surely enjoyed my time with him at his home the tavern and all the parties he was at. Along with Mrs Stabeno. My condolences to Eugene, William and Gail. And the rest of his people as it looks like they ended up with quite a lot of Family. Dale Randig
