Floyd Eben “Buddy” Brown, 74, of Linden, Texas transitioned from life October 7, in the year of our Lord 2021. Floyd was born in Barberton, Ohio in 1947. He survived the Covid-19 virus, but the damage was too great for his body to recover.
Floyd was born August 23, 1947, to Wilmer (Gainesville, GA) and Mary Jane Brown (Barberton, OH). He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Timothy Dade Barnes-Brown of Linden, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Ruth King-Brown, “Ms. Ruth,” of Linden, Texas, daughters Shelly and Donald Drennen of Ohio, Nada and Jack Clay of South Carolina, Kimberly and Rick McGarr of Ohio, sons Jason and Debbie Brown of Ohio, Billy Brown of Linden, Gene and Lisa King of Linden, and Joseph and Linda Downes of Texarkana. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Justin and Sara King of Linden, Jericho Hill and Jemini Brown of Ohio, Jessica and husband Steve Fryman of Ohio, Samantha, John, and Abby Clay of South Carolina, Michael and Jacob Holman of Ohio, and Kasen, Jordan, and Rowdy Downes of Texarkana and four great-grand-children, Gabriella King of Linden, Jaiden Mueller, Easton, and Elias Fryman of Ohio. One brother James Reed Brown of Ohio and one special brother James Dean of Kentucky. Floyd’s special kids include Bryan Power “Who Bryan,” Shakota Chavez,” “Pocahontas,” “Daddy Floyd’s Lil Indian Girl,” Michael Martinez, “Cheech,” Victor Martinez, “Chong,” Jordan Ott, “Jordy,” Josh Grubbs, Brett Wray, and Austin Schuler, “Shootster.”
The life of Floyd Brown has been rich and full. He was the manager for General Supply in Texarkana Texas, a subdivision of Miller Bowie Feed Supply. He had great pride in his job and helping the customers. He would often tell stories that involved the many “work family” members he adored. Those in his inner circle knew his love for motorcycles, leading his family to use a Harley Davidson theme in his final poker run. His greatest passion was singing, and he felt right at home holding a microphone. His love of gospel, Motown, country, and some rock music provided him with an abundance of enjoyment in life. Floyd served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He loved his country and was extremely patriotic. For those that knew him, they could say his humor was one of a kind. They truly broke the mold when God created him. He was blunt and spoke his truth often-times without being asked. There will be a great void in the lives of those that knew and loved him.
Services will be held at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home located at 202 N. Main St. Linden, Texas 75563, for questions call (903)756-5211 with Brother James Duncan reading the eulogy and Brother Perry Hart delivering the message. Visitation is set for Wednesday, October 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be Thursday, October 14 at 2:00 pm at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home followed by interment at Caves Springs Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden. Fellowship will follow.

Prayers for the family, I thought a lot of Floyd, from working together in the oilfield to singing karaoke together, I'll miss you friend.
Ruth so sorry to hear about Buddy. I have not seen him since 2008 but he still has that same smile. I can remember the times he got me in so much trouble as a kid. Never did get to pay him back (it would have taken a long time). One of his kicks was chasing me into the kitchen with a garden hose (it was turned on) while mother had gone to the store. His Aunt Willie Mae was very upset with him. I got grounded. Ruth I will keep you in my prayer in the coming days. Love and prayers. Sammie Center
My heart goes out to all of you. This will be a hard journey to continue without Buddy but God will see you through it and help you every moment. I will be praying for you. I send my love and sincere sympathy for your loss of this loved one. I know he will be greatly missed.
