Services for Fred Roquemore, 96, of Hughes Springs will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Hughes Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Saint Paul Cemetery in Bivins, Texas under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home of Hughes Springs. Mr. Roquemore will lie in state from 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. 

Fred Douglas Roquemore was born June 22, 1925 in Bivins, Texas to the parentage of Clayton Roquemore, Sr. and Fannie Brice Roquemore. He was the fifth of eleven children. He loved the Lord and accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age at St. Paul Baptist Church, Bivins, Texas. Later he united with and became a faithful servant at Hughes Chapel Baptist Church in Hughes Springs, Texas. There he served as deacon, Sunday school teacher, and a choir member. 

Fred served in the US Army from February 1945 to December 1946 and was deployed to Asia during World War II. He received multiple medals and ribbons for his service. He was a member of the American Legion Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was employed at Lone Star Steel in Lone Star, Texas and retired with a 33 year tenure as an overhead crane operator. After his retirement, he operated a lawn service for many years until his health failed. 

He was married to Easter Mary Roquemore, and to this union nine children were born. Later in life he was united in marriage to Theresa Traylor Roquemore of Naples, Texas. They were married from November 26, 2005 until his death. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Lorraine Roquemore and Gloria Roquemore; eight siblings, Prentis Roquemore, Saul Roquemore, Sr., James Dennis Roquemore, Willie Roquemore, Clyde Roquemore, Vern Weaver, Erma Tucker, and Clayton Roquemore, Jr.

Fred Douglas Roquemore peacefully entered eternal rest on November 19, 2021. He is cherished in memory by his wife, Theresa Roquemore; children, William (Mildred) Roquemore, Ricky (Frances) Roquemore, Angela (Ken) Johnson, Marilyn (Dwight) Watkins, Daphne Roquemore, Berlinda Roquemore, and Rodney Roquemore; sisters, Goldie Cheatham and Ola Lewis; brother-in-law, Dennis Weaver; sister-in-law, Jean Roquemore; special caregivers, sister-in-law, Oreathe Sasser and niece, Cecelia Sasser; grandchildren, Garian (Elizabeth) Roquemore, Adaryll (Andrea) Roquemore, Andre (LaTrina) Roquemore, Ashanti (Eugene, Jr.) Riggs, Jarrett (Ashley) Baker, and Naysa Roquemore; 18 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
