Gordon Tipping

Gordon Tipping, 89, of Hughes Springs, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, in a Linden hospital. He was born Dec. 27, 1915. He is survived by his wife Lois; a son Anthony Tipping; a daughter Vonita Bowers; a brother and sister-in-law Charley and Kinney Tipping, all of Hughes Springs; a grandson who he helped raise Grant Haley, and other grandsons Barry Tipping, Aaron and Matt Bowers; granddaughters Debbie Tucker and Susan Tipping; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Nolen Tipping; a son Jack Tipping; two daughters Murl Tipping and Janice Griffith , and a son-in-law Dr. Mike Bowers. His funeral will be at 2 P.M., Saturday at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs, with the Rev. Ralph Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Hughes Springs Cemetery. Family visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Tipping was retired from Lone Star Steel Company and he was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hughes Springs.
