Funeral services for Halbert D.Sonny Barnett, 80, of Hughes Springs will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 25 at Reeder-Davis Chapel with Ray Parker, Jeff McDonald and Jimmy Samples officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Hughes Springs under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Mr. Barnett was born September 30, 1932 to Arthur and Carrie Barnett and passed away March 22, 2013 in Tyler. He grew up in the Cornett Community and graduated in the last class of Naples High School. August 28, 1953 he married Nell Hammack and to this union two children were born. He retired from Red River Army Depot as a Supervisor in the Maintenance Directorate. Mr. Barnett also served in the US Army and was a HAM Radio Operator. Survivors include his wife: Nell Barnett of Hughes Springs; two daughters and sons-in-law Patti and Larry Terrell of Texarkana and Karen and Billy OSteen of Elkridge, Maryland; three special granddaughters Lisa, Lindsey and AllyBeth; and several nieces, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister Jonelle Brock. Family will receive friends from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. Sunday evening at the funeral home. What a wonderful man, friend, father, husband, and never met a person he did not respect and like. Truly a prize in the treasure chest of people we meet along the way.
