Haskell Smith

LINDEN Haskel Smith, 77, of Linden passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 in a Texarkana hospital. He was born March 27, 1935 in Ludlow, Oklahoma, to Sherman King Smith and Dorcie Nelson Smith. He worked for Hawthorn Logging and was a avid, fisherman, hunter, and gardener. Survivors include his wife, Diane Smith of Linden; four daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Matt Allen, Joyce and Roger Case, Lisa and Steve Gilliand and Nancy and Len Harrison; a son, Robert Smith; two step daughters, Janna Miles and Jodi Walusis; granddaughter, Brandi Burnham; grandson, Jason Griggs; 17 grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alma Smith; parents; daughter, Glory Cobb Masters; granddaughter, Felicia Morales; sister, Narvona Hawthorn, and brother, Wade Smith. Funeral services will be at 1:00PM Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in the chapel of Reeder-Davis-Schindler Funeral Home in Linden with Bro. Ricky Steed officiating. Interment will be in Linden Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
