Helen Alford

Services for Helen Alford, 92, of Avinger, will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Avinger United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Avinger Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Ms. Alford was born June 17, 1925 and passed away March 19, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Alford Sr.; parents, Ted and Gladys Bennett; and two brothers, Jim and Oscar Bennett.
She is survived by her son, Jimmie "Stinky" Alford and wife Delana; grandchildren, Brandi and Trey Alford; great grandchildren, Addison and Dakota Lawrence; sister, Dixie Allen; brother, Ray Bennett; special niece, Neva McClurg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at The Springs Nursing Center.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Avinger Cemetery Association.
My sister, my friend. I knew you for 80 years. I love you. I will miss you.

I’ve had you on mind all day today, Stinky & DeLana. My heart and love go out to each of you. Your mom was a very special person and friend, and will be deeply missed. There is never a time when I make a chocolate cake with caramel icing that I don’t think about her!
