Private services for Mr. Henry Blackmon, 83, will be held Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Murry League Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City. Mr. Blackmon will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 17 at the funeral home. 

Rev. Henry Blackmon was born in Jamestown (Diana), Texas, October 22nd, 1936 to the parentage of the late H.B. Blackmon and Annie Lee Jones Dumas. On December 26th 1956, Henry was joined to his beloved Elaine Ruth Davis in holy matrimony. Four months later, April 28th 1957, he joined the Army and was awarded the “Good Conduct Medal – Marksman (Carbine.)” In the early part of the 1970’s, Henry gave his life to Christ and later began pastoring at True Holiness of Jefferson, TX for eight years. Henry was a man of many entrepreneurial endeavors. His business
adventures included, but were not limited to, the following: Independent hair stylist, Watkins Rep., farmer, raising livestock, barbeque restaurant owner, producing hair glycerin products, neighborhood fire cracker stand owner/operator. He leaves to embrace his loving memory, wife of sixty-three years, Elaine Ruth Blackmon, 6 children; Diana Nesbitt, Donald Blackmon (Sherri), Debbie Rockwell, Derrick Blackmon (Shycheekia),
DeNan Williams (Jerry), and Joy Massenburge (Elvin). Along with 25 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and sister Dorothy Turner. Henry has 3 brothers and 3 sisters who proceeded him in death. Known for the extended love he and wife Ruth gave to others, Henry also leaves behind a host of relatives and a countless number of friends.

  1. I only knew Mr. Henry through his beautiful, loving daughter, Joy, but I know he helped create her caring, Christian soul. I know Joy and the rest of the family and his friends will miss Mr. Henry. Praying for you guys.
