Herschel Hamilton 60, of Center Point, Texas was born September 2, 1955 to Grady and Myrtis (Taylor) Hamilton and passed away peacefully at his home on April 21, 2016 at his home.

He attended and graduated from Prairie View College and worked at Lone Star Steel for 10 years. He went on to work at Pilgrims Pride, where he retired after 20 years. He enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Herschel was preceded in death by one son, Billy Wayne Bubba Collins Hamilton, at 23 months of age; his parents, Grady and Myrtis Hamilton; one brother, Roy C. Hamilton; and his little puppy, Cream.

Herschel is survived by three daughters, Demetria Green of Mt. Pleasant, Teneka and Shynese Hamilton of Cason; siblings, Cleatus Hamilton, Willard (Karen) Hamilton, Sharon (Wayne) Richards, Grady Mae Clark, and Vernell Griffin; eight grandchildren; six nieces and nephews; and his puppies Tiny, Cricket, and Coco.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Cason. Burial will follow at Center Point Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mr. Hamilton will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
