Howard E. Watson was born to Clinton and Naomi (King) Watson on August 28, 1947 in Marietta, Texas and passed away June 1, 2016.

Howard was introduced to Christ at a very young age, where he joined the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Marietta.

He received his early education at Bethlehem Community School in Marietta. After integration Howard attended Carver High School in Naples, graduating in 1965. Upon finishing high school he began work at Red River Army Depot, where he worked for almost 30 years.

Howard loved to farm and garden. He was known all over northeast Texas for his purple hull peas and hot peppers among various other produce.

On January 6, 1972 Howard married Gyrlie Johnson. To this union one daughter and one son were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald; wife, Gylie; and daughter, Shequlyn Kee-Kee Watson.

Those left to cherish his memories are a son and daughter-in-law, Kedrell Kel and Regina Watson of Marietta; three grandchildren, Kelci and K.C. Watson of Marietta and Asa Watson of Desoto, Texas; four sisters, Martha Garner of Atlanta, Nellie Bell (Lonnie) of Mt. Pleasant, Dorothy Hall (Curtis) of Douglassville, and Kathryn Hall of Marietta; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Services for Mr. Watson will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Floyd Valley Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mr. Watson will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
