Family and friends of Mrs. Lowe; may you have the peace of The Comforter (1 Corinthians 1:3) to carry you through your grief; as well as the comfort of good memories as you celebrate the life of one especially strong. (Psalm 90:10)
Dear Mrs. Lowe,Always larger than life to me not only in stature but also in personality – you changed my world! You inspired me in those middle school years to be the teacher that I would later become. You opened my horizons to a world beyond the sleepy New England town where I was raised. You listened to me and talked with me as if I were an equal. I will always treasure our many conversations together from American history to the sixties counter-culture to the Vietnam war to LSD to the hum-drum of daily life and family news. The lilt of your voice with its Texas drawl when you would say Mom's name and place the accent on the Jo and elongate the anne – such sweet music to my ears. You allowed the then shy 15 year old girl to experience Southern California by inviting me to stay for part of my summer in 1968. You made sure that I had the "cute" date to Disneyland and that I had the chance to enjoy all that was on offer in Yorba Linda/Fullerton. Later, in my early college years, I shared with you secrets that I would not dare tell my own Mother. You were always available to listen and offer guidance free of judgment. I remember one hot New England July day when you and Mom sat on the stone step to the barn side entrance. I took a picture of the two of you sitting there. You were both 50! The image is in my mind like it was yesterday – two beautiful women. I loved you then and I love you now. Cheryl LaBrecque June 1, 2016
Ida did a lot of good things for the First United Methodist Church while she was living in Hughes Springs and an active member there. She totally redecorated the four restrooms there and was the editor of a church cookbook. She was a very sweet and good person.
Bye Ida but not forgotten.I first met Ida and Wayne in 1950 when I was in the Air Force and remained friends for many years.Ida was my wife's sister that she never had, for they were very close friends. We will miss her very much.Charles & Joan LaBrecque
