Irma Delores Wilson-McKinney, 69, of Longview passed away on January 25th, 2020, in the loving comfort of her home.
Irma was born in Ore City, Texas to the late H.B. and Myrtle Blackmon on January 11th, 1951. She was one of two siblings born of that union. Shortly after, her family moved to Port Author, Texas where she attended Carver Elementary School. Her family moved back to Ore City, and she attended Duncan Elementary School. She graduated from Ore City High School in 1969. Soon after graduation she moved to Harvey, Illinois, where she worked as an insurance underwriter for CNA Insurance for 15 plus years. While working at CNA Insurance Company, she furthered her experiences by gaining a certification in Insurance underwriting.
In 1969, she mothered her first child, Anthony (Tony) Wilson. Shortly after she mothered a loving baby girl, Lu Adron Wilson in 1972. Irma was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. Irma had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went. Most of all she loved to instill in her children strong values that have served them well. Irma was the strongest woman you would ever meet. She wasn’t afraid of anyone or anything. She was a fierce mother who loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was also a sports fan and LOVED the Dallas Mavericks Basketball Team. When she wasn’t with her family or friends, she was enjoying watching her sport teams. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Irma moved back to Texas in 1992 and went to work at Good Shephard Hospital in Longview until she retired after 27 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, H.B. and Myrtle Morrow- Blackmon.
Those left to cherish her memories are: her children, Anthony (Tony) Wilson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Lu Adron Wilson of Longview, Texas; her sister, Dorothy Turner of Longview, Texas; as well as a host of cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
Tony and Lou, Prayers are going up for you all. Ms. Irma was such a joy to be around and will be missed by all who was blessed to have known her.
Ms. Irma, my heart is broken to hear that you are gone. You made such a big impact in my life from the time is started to work at Good Shepherd. You are strong, funny, will tell you the truth (for real), and I loved you for that. You showed me there is true power in being who you want to be, the true you. I often told you that you should go on tour giving speeches about your life and how we need to live our life on our own terms (great story teller and so funny). You are truly missed.
Irma I have fond memories of the good time we shared in the workplace, Bulls Games and my home. Even though distance kept us apart we would spend hours talking on the phone. I felt something was wrong when I called on your birthday and you didn't respond. Your wit and your smile will always be in my heart. You gave me sisterly advice whether I wanted it or not. You were the best story teller. You raised two beautiful children Tony and Adron who were truly your heartbeat. May you have sweet rest and peace enjoy your journey. I will miss you and you will never be forgotten. Love, Gloria
Sorry for your loss. Praying for the family
